Business Analyst / Project Manager
Overview
We are recruiting on behalf of our client for a Business Analyst / Project Manager. Our client is a UK-based consultancy that works with small business owners to map, measure, and improve how their businesses operate. This role sits at the centre of every client engagement — managing projects through a structured five-stage methodology whilst maintaining the day-to-day client relationship from first conversation through to ongoing support.
The successful candidate will split their time between project management and hands-on business analysis, running process-mapping workshops with business owners and ensuring that nothing falls through the cracks across multiple concurrent engagements. This is a fully remote position requiring alignment with UK business hours (GMT/BST).
Key Responsibilities
• Manage multiple client projects simultaneously, tracking the status of each engagement and identifying what is progressing, what is blocked, and what needs immediate attention
• Own the client relationship day to day — serve as the primary point of contact, communicate progress clearly and honestly, and set realistic expectations on timing and effort
• Build and maintain detailed project plans and Gantt charts, keeping them accurate as scope, priorities, and deadlines evolve
• Facilitate workshops and one-to-one sessions with business owners to map end-to-end business processes, producing activity diagrams and flow charts in Miro using standard UML notation
• Co-ordinate actions, dependencies, and outstanding information across clients, consultants, bookkeepers, and management accountants — chasing what is overdue before it causes delay
• Identify gaps, bottlenecks, and risks early, raising concerns proactively with the client and the internal team rather than waiting to be asked
• Maintain clear records of decisions, actions, and owners after every client interaction, and keep overall project status visible to the wider team at all times
Requirements
• Matric (Grade 12) as a minimum; a BCom, National Diploma in Business Administration, or a relevant NQF Level 6–7 qualification is strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience in a business analysis role, including requirements elicitation, process documentation, and assumption testing
• Hands-on project management experience running several projects concurrently, with a track record of delivering on time and communicating clearly when timelines change
• Proficiency in Miro or a comparable online whiteboard tool, alongside everyday collaboration tools such as task trackers, shared documents, and spreadsheets
• Confident working directly with clients or external stakeholders, ideally owners or senior leaders of small to medium-sized businesses
• Comfortable reading and discussing basic financial information — P&L statements, cash flow, and business performance figures — without needing to be a qualified accountant
Preferred Experience
• Prior exposure to financial services, accountancy practice, consulting, or finance operations
• Familiarity with Xero or similar cloud-based accounting software
• Experience supporting SMEs in sectors such as construction, e-commerce, or professional services
• A recognised qualification in project management or business analysis, such as PRINCE2, PMP, or a BABOK-aligned certification
Key Competencies
* Strong communication skills
* High attention to detail
* Strong organisational skills
* Ability to work independently
* Professionalism and reliability
