Remote jobs this week: 5,987 new listings, and only 1 in 4 says what it pays

What 5,987 newly seen remote listings tell us about who is hiring, for what, and how much they are willing to say about money.

Key takeaways

  • In the 7 days to 4 November 2026, remoty.work saw 5,987 remote listings for the first time. The live board stood at 17,035.
  • 1,520 of them (25%) state a salary. Three in four still make you apply before you learn the pay.
  • 406 new listings (6.8%) have AI, ML or LLM in the title, and 86 are AI-training work: annotation, rating, evaluation.
  • Only 202 (3.4%) are labelled junior, entry-level or associate. 2,126 (35.5%) are senior, staff, lead or above.
  • The biggest hirers this week: Welo Global (89), OpenAI (57), Brighter Signals (57), Grafana Labs (45) and LILT (43).

Every week we count what came onto the board. This is the first of these reports on the new blog; the next ones will follow the same shape so you can compare week to week.

The live board, everything currently open, stood at 17,035 listings on 4 November.

A note on reading these numbers: "new" means new to us. In mid-October we started reading employers' own career pages directly (Greenhouse, Lever and Ashby boards), which added thousands of listings in a few days. The week of 19 October looks enormous for that reason, not because the market jumped. From this report on, the comparison is like for like.

Pay transparency is still the exception #

One listing in four states what it pays. That is better than the folklore of "nobody posts salaries". We have not measured why; pay-transparency laws in several US states and applicant-tracking systems that ask for a range are the likely reasons.

It still means that for three applications out of four, you invest an hour before learning whether the job pays half what you need. Where a listing states no salary, remoty.work shows the typical range for that role instead, clearly marked as market data rather than the employer's figure.

AI is in 7% of titles, and the training work is growing #

406 new listings carried AI, ML or LLM in the title. That covers engineers building models, product managers for AI features, and sales roles selling AI products.

The smaller line is the more interesting one: 86 listings for AI-training work. These are the jobs where people write, rate and correct model answers: data annotators, AI tutors, evaluators, raters. By calendar week it went 18 (week of 19 Oct), 58 (26 Oct) and 40 in the first three days of November; this report's seven-day window holds 86. Several of this week's biggest hirers, Welo Global and LILT among them, sit in this world of language data and evaluation.

This work is open to far more countries than the average remote job, which is why it matters to readers outside the US. It is also uneven: pay ranges from excellent specialist rates to piecework, and some "opportunities" in this space are lists, not jobs. Check who actually employs you before you sign up.

The junior squeeze, in one number #

202 listings out of 5,987 say junior, entry-level, associate or intern. That is 3.4%. Senior and above: 35.5%. We look at this properly in a separate analysis, but the short version is that remote work, as advertised, is mostly for people who already have the experience.

A count of listings is not a count of hires. One company may post one role per city or per language, so read this as "who is most active", not "who is biggest".

How we counted #

Counts come from the remoty.work database on 4 November 2026: listings first seen in the previous 7 days, remote only. Levels and AI terms are matched on the job title; a title like "Engineer" with no level counts as unspecified. Salary means the listing itself states a figure or range.
